Community Plate

Since the fall of 2003 the Concord UU church has given away its entire Sunday offering plate each week. As part of our spiritual/financial outreach, it is agreed that the Community Plate should go either to an individual facing extraordinary circumstances—such as a house fire or overwhelming medical needs—or to a non-profit organization whose mission is anchored in UU principles. These principles include working for justice, equity, peace, liberty, preservation of the natural world and the acceptance of diverse lifestyles and religious beliefs.

Recipients are suggested by church members and chosen by a rotating committee of volunteers.
