About Us

Minister's Reflections

November 2007

A sincere thank you to those who were in church on Sunday, October 14 for your cooperation in our fire drill.  I know it’s a nuisance but if it were to save lives in the event of an unlikely emergency it’s obviously worth doing.  If (when) we do it again please remember:  exit as quickly as possible without talking. Talking actually slows the whole process by quite a bit.  If you have difficulty walking, please allow others to exit first.  This may seem counter-intuitive but the fire marshals advise us that this is indeed most efficient.  Clear the exit as rapidly as possible.  Move quickly to the rear of the parking lot.  If an inconvenience saves the life of any one of us, it’s worth doing.  Every blessing.

If there is a sermon topic you would like for me to address please drop me a note and I will try to honor your request.  I cannot promise that I will honor every request but I’m always happy to hear suggestions.  A face to face conversation is even better than a note but you decide what you prefer.

This will be my last Thanksgiving among you and I’m growing more acutely aware of my loss of this faith community.  You will be fine and so will I but please understand if I acknowledge some sense of sadness.  Thanksgiving has always been a particularly joyous time for me.  The holiday is still largely untainted by crass commercialism;  Carolanne and I were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1965;  I now have a New Hampshire grand baby to hold and cuddle on Thanksgiving.  I may even let Ellie take a turn at holding her.

This is a beautiful season and there is much joy to bless our lives.  Let us all be open to the blessings.

      Amitiés and love,
