About Us

Minister's Reflections

February 2007

You have no doubt heard it said, “be careful what you ask for.” Change is inevitable. Our reality is never static. It will, it must change. The Buddha teaches that all phenomena is impermanent. Stasis is an unnatural state. We need only be patient.

I enjoy living in northern New England. I don’t mind our winters at all. They harden us for life’s trials and cold purifies the air. I delight in X-C skiing and snowshoeing. But this has been the winter that hasn’t been. It was sixty degrees farenheit on Christmas day. I have been longing for a change in the weather. I have yearned for winter to come to New Hampshire. Well, On Saturday, I interred Dr. William Penhale’s ashes in the columbarium up in the Memorial Garden. The wind was fierce! Thank you to Ken Koerber for sanding the path leading up there and for preparing the stones.

Now my driveway is encased in ice. The path from the back door to the garage is like an olympic luge run. Pretty exciting. Going up or coming down, it’s exciting. Ellie is graceful as a gazelle and as surefooted as a mountain goat. Good thing one of us is!

Amities and love,
